Boris scraps changes to the TfL congestion charge.
Maverick mayor Boris Johnson has axed changes to the congestion charge thar were due to be implemented from this October onwards.
Plans
included charging the most polluting vehicles £25 a day to enter the
congestion charge zone, and the scrapping of the current exemption
from the congestion charge of alternative fuel vehicles such as
LPG,electric and hybrid vehicles. This meands drivers of band G
vehicles will face no increase and vehciles appering on the
powershift register are still eligible for a 100% discount.
The proposed 100% discount for band A and B drivers which would have meant thousands of low emission vehicles driving into the zone for free has also been scrapped.
The plans for the London low emission zone remain firmly in place as we went to press.
