You can still work more than 48 hours a week.John Hutton, secretary of state for business has announced that the UK's opt out from the 48 hour a week cap in the EU working time and agency workers directive means UK workers can still choose to work longer than 48 hours. Mr Hutton said after the meeting with ministerial aides "This agreement means that people remain free to earn overtime and businesses can cope during busy times". Oh the joys of working in the UK!
